A skeleton screw vs a skeleton crew: we knew going in that McClintock was officially forfeiting the team match today but the McClintock coach was very gracious that we fielded a team to come to McClintock to play her boys and I was very happy to see Landon, Dylan, and Nation get more experience and match time. Landon played a tough match and had to fight back from a 2-1 deficit in the set before he reeled off 6 straight games. Many of them went to deuce and he had to bring his A-game to win. He was doing great with his lobs while his opponent was at the net and won several points that way. Dylan had a tougher time with his match but he was working hard and had some nice shots to stay in games and make his opponent work hard to win. He did play a solid exhibition match against the #3 McClintock player (also named Dylan) and did well against him with a nice win. Nation impressed me today with his groundstrokes as he hit some very nice forehands and backhands when he concentrates shot by shot. He was too much for his singles opponent and he and Landen played a tough doubles match to finish out the day in victory. They both had great serves at times and quick hands with volleys. And it was especially pleasing to see them switch sides when their partner was lobbed and they hustled to deep balls. Great job you two!
