Having coached against ACP before as well as watched some of their matches in the past, I warned the players that they were going to be playing against some very talented players. There was a bit of shell shock anyway as the talent of their top 6 probably surpassed what even they were expecting. And with good reason: the opposing coach told me their top two are ranked in the top 10 in their age-group in the southwest; that's certainly some tough opponents to face in your first match of the year. However! I was pleased to see our players give their best effort, chase down balls and even get into some solid rallies with superior opponents, not to mention get some great point-wins. These are probably among the best 7th and 8th graders in the state in tennis and I think it's great to see where you match up and what it's going to take if you want to challenge players like that in the future.
