Another fun day at the EVC Tournament with a thrilling result for our #1 Girls Doubles team!
But first, how much fun was it to see Chase/Isandro battling out there and playing, by far, their best doubles match of the year? There were so many good volleys, saves, crazy rally shots that even the crowd couldn't help but cheer on the effort and hustle. This is not to take away anything from all the other matches I was able to watch the last two days but Chase/Isandro had me cheering the loudest at some of the acrobatics! Great job you two and I look forward to seeing you again in Freshman tennis!
Tony and Niko had a harder time with their opponents from Newell Barney but I was glad to see them running hard and giving maximum effort to give them a chance in the match. Some of the shots Tony was able to return had me wondering if it was the same player I've been coaching all season! Great job to the both of you and I look forward to seeing you both next season in Freshman or Coed Tennis!
Maddi and Mia had a tough draw to begin the Doubles tournament as their opponents went on to play in the Girls Championship match. Still, they worked hard and played the best they could against a superior doubles team from ACP. I was also glad to see them advocate for themselves and ensure points were fair during play. All players are trying their hardest on both teams and it was great to see them work it out on the court with their opponents. They are both excited to practice in the off-season and I wish Mia well for her Freshman season next year and I look forward to coaching Maddi in Coed tennis again!
Now for our comeback girls, Giuliana and Lexi: these two had outstanding matches which resulted in a podium finish at third-place in Girls Doubles! Their quarterfinals match they came back from a 4-2 deficit and in their 3rd place match they came back from a 3-0 deficit! And while they suffered a tough defeat that certainly challenged their resolve in the semifinals against the eventual Girls Doubles champions, they regrouped and dug deep to win a thrilling 3rd place match and earn their spot on the podium! Fantastic job you two and best of luck to Giuliana in Freshman tennis next year, and I look forward to coach Lexi in Coed tennis again next season!
